Hummingbird Moth

I was out at the Botanical Gardens yesterday shooting and finally got a few decent shots of a Hummingbird Moth.  They are so little and so fast, as well as skittish, so I have never been satisfied with any shots before.  Shot with Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 100 L lens, with KX-800 twin flash with DIY diffuser, handheld.  Settings f13, 1/180, ISO 400.  Cropped to 50%.  Comments and suggestions are welcome.

These little ones are both fun to see and hard to shoot.  This take looks good with the nicely colored flowers and the green background.  I could see cropping this view to 4x5 to eliminate that stalk coming in from the left, although admittedly this is alread a large crop.

Shirley, This is a very challenging subject. Good focus and sharpness in the hummingbird moth, nice floral setting. Well done!

This is a really cool moth Shirley. It is mimicking a bumblebee with those clear wings. Same family as the sphinx moths/tomato horn worms. I wonder if you could apply a blur to the stem Mark has pointed out to make it stand out less if the crop is too big to go any smaller.
