A Clematis belonging, I think, to the Viticella, Southern Europe group. Nikon 885 f/2.8 1/134 ISO 100 Comments welcome and appreciated.

Chris, great detail in the larger version. I think that the white center of this flower keeps the white background of the building from being a distraction. Really nice.

That's a very pretty flower. The background is a bit distracting, but not sure what to do with it.

The Clematis is beautiful, Chris. The background, meh.

Hi Chris
Very detailed and lovely portrait of this clematis. I agree with the other posters on the troublesome BG. So many times, there is nothing to be done about that when shooting, other than draping a bit of black velvet over all or part of the BG

Chris: Terrific capture of the flower. I'm actually OK with the BG except for the partial flower on the left side but I know how these grow so perhaps unavoidable. This is another instance where a much tighter almost frame filling crop might work well. >=))>

A big thank you to all the kind folk that have commented on this flower so far and especially for the suggestions made. Unfortunately I am unable to go back and take another shot as that one was in a previous residence, I move around a lot! At the time I shot this I was, to be honest, simply interested in the flower and at that time did not consider the BG, thanks to all on here I have learned my lesson. I do have more Clematis where I now live but sadly they are pale and not very attractive but I may just see what I can do, making sure I sort the BG. With regard to Bill's kind suggestion to crop tightly I will give that a go in my folder and see how it looks.
