High Key Stag Beetle

This one turned out pretty special. The stag beetle was waking up and I was ready with 1 flash hand held and the other mounted off camera. The 30 dollar light tent has paid for itself and was able to get some very soft highlights. It helps to know the behavior of your subject and I was prepared to deal with an animal that is not a speed demon. An 8 second exposure was enough to get the BG white with details in the insect.  K5 IIs 180 mm f3.5 (8.0 sec at f20, ISO 400)..........................Jim

Beautiful, Jim.  Superb details in the beetle and I like the soft shadows you got from it.  I've looked at those small light tents and this might convince me to pick one up.

"Jaws" looks familiar, Jim.  This view does a great job of showing off the details with the subtle shadows adding well.
