Trillium Reflections + Repo

Greetings all,
I haven't posted in a loooong time.  I have been in a bit of a photographic funk for a few months, so that, on top of work, is my only excuse.  I have a lot to share in the coming weeks or months from here and from the eastern sierra.  I gotta get caught up and back in shape for a trip to Yosemite next month.

After the long preamble, and at the risk of wading back in with a humdrum sunset at a major Oregon icon, here is one of my latest.  The sky never did much, but the more I looked at it, the more I liked the subtle play of orange against the cooler blue sky.  The reflection fascinated me (imperfect, but perfect in its scrambling of the edges of the mountain in the reflection).  I have another taken moments later that includes a young fisherman on the right bank.  Will share that below.

Please be honest and let me know how this strikes you: too objective, not dramatic enough, meh?  All reactions welcome.

Here is an alternate version: fewer boats on the water, but a young fisherman on the shore.

I like the original post better. While a more active sky would be more dramatic, I like it as is. There is a very serene balance and flow that is enticing.

Here is one more variation on this scene: I took the one with the fisherman (which had a bit more sky color) and cropped out the fisherman.  Though there are no boats on the lake at this point, the color is more interesting.  Part of me like the boats at last light mood of the first, but I like the sky color here better.

Holler if you have any thoughts on it.  I have one more to share from this location, but it's a totally different composition, so I'll start a new thread for that one.

I just commented on your most recent posting, and I hadn't yet seen this one, which I like much better. This comp lets the mountain really shine and the framing is more delicate and interesting than in the other one. There's just more going on in this one, including the light on the distant forest at the base of the peak. The boaters also add interest. Very nicely done.
