Feeding time & RP

It appears this Dark Eyed Junco got fooled and is raising a Cow Bird.  This was taken about 10 days ago.  Today was the first day I saw the Cow Bird feeding by itself without its mother.  We also had another Dark Eyed Junco with a juvenile Dark Eyed Junco at the feeders today.  An impressive comparison between the Junco juvenile and the Cow Bird with respect to size.

Iso 640, 600 mm, F9, 640th, D 500, tripod, early morning light, full frame, Topaz and TK actions

Impressive and kind of sad.  The look on the Junco's face looks like it has realized something isn't right.  I'm glad you saw the Cow Bird feeding by itself. The image, of course, is beautiful, detailed, wonderful light, perch and background.

Superb detail in both birds and the perch, David.  I really like the interaction in this image.

Exceptional detail, and great interaction. It's not only the Juncos who are fooled; cowbirds pull this a lot.
Fine image!

Really impressive shot, David.  It is great interaction between them, and like Babara said, it looks like the mother realizes something isn't right.  Wonderful detail, lighting and color.

An excellent capture of this interaction David, to my eye the colors don't look quite right here, the contrast seems too low, maybe a little bit too much shadow/highlight type of work which tends to reduce contrast.  devil

An excellent behavioral study with great light and killer detail (especially in the large version).  I appreciate the explanation also. Very nice, David!

Nate;  You are correct in that the contrast does seem a little off.  The original image had a blue cast to the shadows which I corrected but it affected the contrast.  Here is a repost with a little more contrast and hopefully not too much saturation.
