Subtle Beauty

Please View Large.

Here is another image from the Blue Ridge Parkway.  I took this on the same night as my Twilight Beauty shot.  I'm drawn to the subtle light and texture in this image.  Layers seem to be a recurring theme from this trip and this image is no exception.  Not only the layering of the mountains, but also of texture, contrast and light.  There is nothing groundbreaking about the composition, but I think it showcases these elements well. I think it is important to view this one large - it doesn't really present well in the smaller size.
As always, all comments and critiques are welcome.  Thank you all for commenting on my previous images!  crying

Capture Info:
35mm
f/11 @ 1/15 sec.  ISO 100

Processing Info:
The usual suspects - luminosity and saturation masks and a color balance adjustment at the end to remove some of the blue / cyan after making the contrast adjustments.

The receding ranges looks great in the haze.
I would take some off the top & bottom (16x9 crop?) to emphasize them.

Brian, This is a great view and I love what the fog and mist do for this. The layers with the distant hills works wonderfully and it has a great feel. I agree the large version is a must look here to get the best out of this. Dan's crop suggestion would also work well here I think.

The larger view does a great job of showing off the color changes as the ridges fade into the horizon, Brian.  I think that some dodging of the bright area in the clouds would be good, it pulls a lot of attention

This is another subtle, but very beautiful scene, Brian. This has some wonderful layers and those low hanging clouds over the receding ridgelines add an air of mystery to this image for me. My only suggestion would be the already mentioned small crop from the top and bottom to place more of an emphasis on the heart of this scene. You have done quite well capturing the subtle beauty of the area with your last couple of posts.

Real nice, Brian.  I agree with the crop suggestions and might think about cropping just below the bright area in the sky.  Lovely view.

I love this Brian. Those layering ridgelines seem to go on forever and ever into the distance. A subtle scene captured perfectly.
