This queen carpenter bee was checking out the huge lotus blossom at the Huntington Library and Gardens. I was happy to get a pretty decent freeze on the bee at some distance. I had been shooting the blossom, and lucked out with the bee coming in. Canon 5Diii, f9, 1/2000 sec, f9, iso 320, -0.7 EV, 100-400 IS L at 400 mm, Handheld, about 80% of original frame. Thanks for your C & C.

Beautiful flower..not so sure about the bee!  To me, it kind of detracts.
Very nice detail in the flower and bud. Could use more room all around, imo.

The Lotus bloom is spectacular, Ed, and having the carpenter bee coming in for a landing adds some fine action.  I like the frame filling look at the flower with that bud in the background.
