Untitled, San Mateo Coast, California / 2017

After a three-year hiatus, I have started making pictures again. The gap was long ... far too long ... and I am thrilled to be reengaged in this creative pursuit.

This photograph is part of a new project that aims to present a personalized view of a section of our local coastline. In more ways than one, I feel blessed to be living close by with easy access to these parts.

Canon 5Ds R, 24mm TSE, 2.5 sec, f/22, ISO IOO / Photoshop CC

[Three shifted frames were stitched together in Adobe Camera RAW to produce this 1:2 aspect ratio panoramic view]

Thanks for looking. Your thoughts on this photograph are greately appreciated.

Regards,

Welcome back Anil.  I like all the textures and soft colours probably the weakest area is the top left corner where this less definition and cohesiveness in respect to your textures patterns and colours than the rest of the frame.

You've got a fine collection of shape, textures, and colors here, Anil.  Given the strong right to left eye movement, I think this would work well as a vertical with the golden stone at the bottom.  The fingerprints near the top are a neat addition.

Welcome back to the photographic world, Anil. No need to open this one up in just seeing the thumbnail I knew it was yours. It is a classic example of your style of work. The larger version is stunning......very nice indeed.....laugh

Fascinating detail and texture, Anil.  I look forward to seeing more of your work here.  Seems you took your hiatus about the time I came on board.  Beautiful work.

Stunningly beautiful composition in both color and tonal values. This has your characteristic preciseness and clean lines and shapes. I wonder how close this is to Bean Hollow beach. The dark areas have enough detail to still be exciting to explore. An alternate composition would be to crop off the warm side on the right and make it a vertical with the left side up. It wouldn't be as good as this but it would be simpler, more direct, because all lines would lead to the bright rock in ulc. I'm looking forward to seeing more images from you.

Cool looking image, Anil. The large version is especially nice as it has some shows off the intimate details of this abstract beautifully. My only suggestion would be to rotate this 90 degrees CW and make it a vertical. IMO it seems to have a better flow as a vertical. Just a suggestion of course. Welcome back BTW.

I loved this when I saw it in the office but wanted to see again on my calibrated monitor before commenting. Initially I thought upper left corner distracts but now I can see that there is a great flow here. Love the patterns. Welcome back!
PS: Now i know why you haven't replied my emails over here. Thanks for all comments in my recent images.

This is a great abstract, Anil!  I like all of the different textures throughout and this definitely has a 3D look to it.  While there is not really a single focal point in the image, I think it works because I just keep wandering around the frame looking at the different textures.

Anil..Its great to see your work again, and glad that you are back. Am a fan of Tafoni, and love to see more of these beautifully crafted images like the one above.
I like the color transition from warm to cold across the frame, and all those lines across.

This certainly captures attention in a good way.  Nice variation in size, color, texture.  This is also a very interesting image to view in that sometimes the grey rock looks convex, and other times concave, to me.

Just wanted to add: What's interesting here is the usage of a panoramic format for an intimate image. And it does have that broad feeling of a panorama. I haven't seen this before in your work and can't seem to remember seeing it anywhere. But it does encourage you to roam all over the canvas. I see 3 distinct sections in the image (left, center, right) and my attention seems to go from one to another. Lots of beautiful, some voluptuous, organic shapes here.

Glad you're back at it Anil! (My schedule forces me to disappear regularly, but fortunately not for too long at a time.)

Excellent abstract here. The combination of textures and colors, and the variation from left to right is very eye-catching.
