Nuthatch

Nuthatch coming in to drink. This is at the woodland pool which I can walk to from the house.

I was rather bemused and upset to be honest  by a recent comment saying--

"That's the great thing about photography, not only does it allow you to see/photograph so many different species, but also travel and visit different habitats/environments too, so nothings gets 'stale' so to speak . "

Well,- I,ve been photographing wildlife for 65 years and I,ve never found photography "allowing" me to see new species and habitats etc etc.  As far as I am concerned there is only one thing that would allow me too do so- and we all know what that is. I,ve not had it.
It starts with the air fare.
I can walk to one of my  pools and use my pensioners bus pass to get to the other or the nearest town.
All I have apart from that is the garden.
So therefore following on from the comment,  we have an implication that my stuff is becoming "stale"- or even boring.

This is what I would call  not the best encouragement to potential future postings.

I hope you enjoy this nuthatch pic.
Cheers
JohnR

Beautiful, John.  Great pose and the Nuthatch is in wonderful condition.  I've never found your garden and pool images getting stale, just as I've always found something new to do in my own back yard.

Another beautiful bird in your lovely pond, John.  You sure keep it interesting to me.  Many of us have had to learn to shoot where we are located, and if we get the privilege to travel, we are extra blessed.  I do a lot of my photography in my back yard, (macro mostly), but occasionally I get to take a drive somewhere.  If my husband doesn't go with me, I have more time to spend taking photos, but when he is with me, he thinks if you took a shot, that should be enough (how many shots does one need, right???).  I am not familiar with the Nuthatch, so thank you for sharing your area of the world with a bird I would probably never see.  That is one of the neat things about this site, folks are from all over, so we get to see a lot of species that we aren't able to see otherwise.  Thank you.

John, I absolutely love all of your posted images, including this one, and I love the creativity and effort behind them. I did not see the comment to which you refer, but I believe that for most of us, even people who have been doing this for years, that type of photography, money, etc. is not within our means. That does not mean that our photography is any less an image of a beautiful part of nature.

I do agree with Shirley. One reason I love your images is because they are birds I probably will never see. I also appreciate your comments on my images and on others. I would greatly miss your postings and comments were they to disappear or lessen in numbers.

Nice one John.  Superb color in the Nuthatch.  And I like the environmental inclusions.  A very well composed image.

I really like seeing this species in this environment John. Really pleasing image.
BTW, I always make a habit of commenting before I read others posts and the OPs comments so I am not influenced by others before forming my own opinion. I am a bit taken back by the comments above. I sure hope what that comment sounds like isn't what they were implying, because not all of us have the means to travel the world, I know I certainly don't. And for the record, I personally think it takes a much more creative and talented photographer to use the same place and set up to come up with different ways to take these images. I too do not find your work stale or boring.
