Fitzcarraldo

The title is a tribute to Werner Herzog's masterpiece. This is a summer downpour in Big Bend's high country, but the atmosphere when I took the picture - the curtains of heavy rain, the sound, the small stone porch from which I was enjoying the cooling rain - instantly reminded me of Herzog's haunting depictions of the Amazonian highlands, in Fitzcarraldo and the also unforgettable Aguirre.

From the collection Chihuahuan Light.

Reminds me of Thomas Cole or Moran paintings especially looking at the large view.  Like the subtle lighting on the greens. Might dry selectively brightening them a little to accent the sun hitting them.  Like your choices with processing.  Unrelated to the image, might try toning down the bright spot near your watermark as it really pulls my eye there when I initially viewed the picture.

A dreamy, painterly view of these rugged mountains and cliffs. I couldn't tell it was raining until I read your description, but knowing that, it's very appealing. Sounds lovely to have taken this from a porch!

This is a very unique and gorgeous image, Alberto. The heavy rain has created a beautiful painterly effect here. Very cool that you were able to take this from a porch and keep yourself dry.

I like your composition and the way that you have isolated the sheer spires which conveys a dramatic sense of scale.  The lack of fine detail makes this feel like a painting.  I do find myself wondering what this would look like with some warm light hitting the cliffs.

The rain has really created quite the effect here, giving this an abstract painterly feel. Outstanding. On a side note, I just watched Fitzcarraldo for the first time a couple weeks ago to see what all the buzz was about and was not dissappointed.

This is so nice Albert. It looks like a painting I would love to put on my wall. Definitely has that rainforest feel.

I really like the old world painterly texture caused by the rain, Alberto. Very cool and artistic.

I am enjoying this very much, Alberto. There is a great sense of drama and mystery that is offered. The sheer walls are also very imposing. I love the mood provided by the weather conditions.

Really nice!

The mood the rain creates is ethereal, as many have noted. I really like the texture it adds; at first glance it almost looks like noise, but then enchants as you look close.
