Magpie
Still playing around with Magpies and the camera on 1/3 crop setting. Seems to work quite well. Not a bad little session this morning-16 species in 2 hours. Great whilst it stops dry/
Cropped from landscape.
Was going to remove the piece of thin grass-WDYT?

Nice detail on the bird and you handled the exposure well John. I would have a go at removing the grass blade, at least from the bird to the floating leaf to its right. devil

Great job, John.  Wonderful detail.  That s a lot of different species in 2 hours, you must have had a blast.  Yeah, that would be nice if that blade of grass wasn't there.

Hi John,

Nice work getting this magpie picture.  Colors are spot on.  Grass blade could be removed, but I'd be happy with this image as is. I just scanned down and saw your repost--Yes the image looks better with it removeddevil...........................Jim

Nice pose and I like the back-side view, John.  It's definitely better without the grass.  It's interesting that the reflections in the water give a first impression that you're looking at it through a window.

Much better on the repost with the removal of the distracting items.  The pond does seem to attract a lot of interesting birds for both you and Dennis.  And you have both done a good job in making it look rather natural.  In this image, the colors of the magpie fit in really well with the "natural" surroundings.
