Spruce Grouse Visit

A Spruce Grouse hen visited our yard this week.  She had two chicks in tow.  She was just going into the brush surrounding the yard by the time I got the camera ready but I was able to get a shot.  Unfortunately, her chicks had already disappeared.  Her intricate patterns blended quite nicely with the ground cover.

Another beautifully camouflaged bird, Gary.  Excellent detail in the plumage and i like how the colors are repeated in the ground litter to illustrate the point.

Really good job of displaying the detail in the feathers on this one Gary.  It does match the groundcover nicely.

Gary, how neat to have them as visitors to your yard.  This shot does a fine job of showing how well mom blends in, especially with the head down pose.

It is amazing how a grey bird can blend so easily into a lush geen environment Gary. Beautiful detail here in the feathers and that is a nice catch light in the eye.
