Here's a photo of whales engaged in bubble net feeding. It was taken on a calm day which allowed the ring around the prey to be seen on the surface. Nikon D 500 and 80-400 lens at 1/500, f/7.1 and ISO 1400. Richard

A great opportunity to witness this and even better yet, to photograph it, Richard! Nicely captured and like you said, you can see the outer ring of bubbles (especially in the larger version).

Great behavioral photo Richard. First time I have seen a photo of whales bubble net feeding. I assume these are humpbacks? How many are there?

Gary and Jim: thanks for looking and commenting. Jim: These are humpbacks. It's very hard to tell exactly how many whales there were in this pod, but a reasonable guess would be 5 or 6. Richard

Hi Richard,
Bubble-netting is always fun to watch and photograph. Great that you included the ring itself...that adds nice context about the scene and the behaviour itself.
Thanks for sharing this one...
