"I have heard but don't know if it's true that this is the most photographed scene in the United States."
Doug: Perhaps it is, but if so for a reason. I like this, especially the bare FG tree. I also like the play of light from the clouds. Nicely done.><>

" (as if you didn't already know). "
I didn't know Wherever this place is, it seems magical. The red arc going through the middle of the image is a very nice touch.

Oh my, oh my, oh my Doug...
This is true, art-worthy, gorgeous with the subtle muted tones and depth of field and perspective. I would hang this on my wall in an instant (and my walls are almost bare by choice) if only to have time to study every corner and nuance and texture and tone you've captured here.
I've never seen this before no matter who has photographed or painted it and I'm reminded of Turner and his light. If you put down your camera and never photograph again, you have done this one superb, never to be topped or imitated piece.
Simply, utterly stunning!

Doug,
I have never been there so this is still fresh to me. The light in the scene is sweet and those clouds rock!

Icon or not, the light is wonderful. I love those clouds and the mountains in the background peaking through. The textures in the foregound are great.

Hi Doug,
This is great. The composition/light has that classic look of a fine painting.
Regards.

WOW!
I never tire of the icons. Keep them coming, especially if they're like this one.

Wonderful. Somebody mentioned painting. It does have that kind of look.

Doug, although this is an oft photographed scene, I don't remember one from this perspective. Dittos on the painterly look. Wonderful job.

Doug,
I really like the composition, especially the foreground tree. The clouds are magnificent. However, there is something "off" that I can't place my finger (not that that is bad), but the color seems a bit off. Perhaps it is just a bit soft on the watchman?

Following up on Scott's comment, I think there is some haze between the camera and the Watchman, but I am wondering if a slight bump in contrast would help? Great comp.

You nailed this one Doug. I see you've taken easily to the square format too.

I've never seen a photo of this location as beautiful as this one. Great work, Doug.

Not that you need another kudos, but I'll give you one anyway. This is truly a spectacular photo, Doug. Fantastic composition, wonderful light. My only minor complaint is that it's a little soft. Nothing some good ol' USM won't fix.
Excellent work!

Gotta be one of the best of the shots from here. You got me hyped as I'm heading there later this week. Hope I come back with something even half this good!
