Yellow-throated Warbler

Dendroica dominica

This Yellow-throated Warbler was chasing dozens of little spiders that were crawling around on this rock. I tried to capture a shot with one in it's bill, but no luck. I think the rock is a nice change from the typical perch for this species.

Another real beauty, Matt.  Wonderful detail and a nice pose.  It looks like you've been in warbler heaven lately.

Nice catch, even without the warbler's catch.  I wonder if the rocks serve another purpose in this case;  to reflect light into the shadows on the bird.  The strong light looks really good here.

A very clean, detailed capture of the Warbler, Matt!  The exposure is perfect the colors are great and I agree that the rock perch is a good break from the standard stick.

I really like the rock as a perch because it is different.  And I really think you did a superb job with the color and definition on this warbler.  It really pops nicely.  I wish we had some of these in my neck of the woods.  I think this is my favorite warbler shot you have taken this year.
