Tree Swallow

One from yesterday morning.  I spent the last three mornings in a back-yard blind mostly hoping for some good Bluebird shots (sadly lacking as they seemed to disappear about the time I got some decent light).  This male Tree Swallow was nice enough to perch at almost point blank range with the foggy bg I had on all three mornings.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 335 mm, hand held, f/7.1, 1/320, iso 1250, aperture priority, pattern metering, +2/3 EV.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped from a horizontal original to a 9.2 MP 4x5 vertical.  Taken at 6:04 AM on May 28th in our back yard.

Your comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi Dennis,

I have spent a lot of time waiting for bluebirds too.  I like this one--comp looks good, subtle lighting, and ruffled feathers work well here.  Well done........................Jim

The soft light works nicely, Dennis. A lovely, muted shot.

Another beautiful swallow photo, Dennis!  Classic composition, a perfect exposure with very natural colors and fine detail.  Well done!

Nice consolation prize. Love the perch and he stands out well against the fog.

Very nice Tree Swallow.  Just my thought, but I would darken the bird just a touch to make it appear as I normally see it.

Really nice pose and feather detail with a good head turn.  I like the perch.  I'm a little surprised that you have fog in your area.  On my monitor which admittedly, is a little low in intensity, the head is a little dark.  But this is a really nice composition.

Great pose and magnificent detail Dennis. The soft light worked well too. I love the different shades of blue visible in the feathers. You don't usually see that...I don't anyway. Exposure looks good to me.
