New Leaves

I spent three nights in Yosemite this past week. It rained a fair amount the first two days and nights, but cleared nicely the third day. The falls and creeks are full and there are lots of waterfalls where there are not usually waterfalls. No shortage of water in the Sierra this year.  This image is along the Merced River.

Great job capturing this one, Harley. It is a beautiful image with a great feel and the large version just looks wonderful. I love the detail in the trees and branches and really enjoy that you left some of the shadows dark. Excellent processing and the web sharpening looks perfect to me. The only thing I can think of would be to tone down the brighter white of the water in the lower left just a bit and especially close to the edge of the frame. Excellent work!

I love this scene as it captures some happy times along the river. The lush greens in the upper right and the evergreen's bare limbs in the center. When the alders are submerged like that it's hard to wade.

The large version showcases all of the details in the forest rather nicely, Harley. This scene has a lovely crispness and lushness to it and the horizontal format works perfectly.. My only suggestion would be to tone down the water in the LLC just a touch. Beautifully done.

Harley,

Lovely, quiet and beautiful streamside image.  I'd say a bit Cramer-esque, if I may.

My only thought agrees with previous comments.  the LLC draws the eye a little bit. Tough call too, burning down too much wouldn't look right, so perhaps just a little drop in the white values a bit in the water might do the trick.  Maybe even a little Harley cloning method... ;-)

Otherwise, color, sat and processing in general looks spot on.  I'm really enjoying this one.

Hard time placing this. Must be in Happy Isles, I can't figure too many spots like this where the water runs right to left.... ;-)

Conceptually I really like this, but compositionally it seems a bit static.  The elements are very interesting in their variety and textures, but ehe somewhat centered small tree makes it feel less dynamic.  Also wondering if a bit more water might make for added interest.  I'm well aware, though, that there were likely constraints when composing the image, and what you present has a lot of interest as is, and it's very nicely developed.

Nice Harley.  Refreshing, is what comes to mind.  It's was close to triple digits here today, so the summer season is underway.  The works fine for me.  The soft light on the new leaves make a nice intimate landscape.  I like the thoughts on toning down the bottom left, but minor for sure.

The fresh spring greens looks great, though the scene feels a little unbalanced with the river cropped as is. Either no river comp, or more river. The different shades of green are beautuful.
