I found these colorful lichens on some granite boulders in the Flaming Gorge Recreation Area above the Green River. K5 IIs 180 mm f3.5 (0.3 sec at f22, ISO 200). Brightness & Contrast, Luminosity Masks, and a crop for comp........................Jim

Love the combination of shapes, colors and textures here, Jim.  This view is very nicely balanced and the touches of yellow fungi add nicely.  I especially like the open blue "trumpets" in the upper left.  I guess because of that, I could also see this cropped to square to give the blue fungi more emphasis.

Wonderful and colorful, Jim.  Lichens are fascinating.  The thumbnail is deceiving - without the title it could easily be mistaken for an underwater image of coral.  Mark has a good suggestion about cropping.  That said it looks like one could spend a whole media card at this location for different comps, so I hope that you did.

Wonderful colors and nice abstract, Jim. This looks like a map. The big blue parts are North America and South America.

A great combination of colors, shapes, textures and design.  Definitely a great find where you could shoot endlessly and not repeat the design.  An unusual subject well presented.
