The Mercer Arboretum in Northeast Houston is my favorite place to shoot water lilies so I indulged myself a few weeks ago and visited. I wasn't sure what I would find as the park was completely inundated in the April 2016 floods and damaged again by a really hard freeze this past February. Much of the flora in the park was significantly hurt by these two catastrophes but to my delight the water lilies survived and seem to have even thrived. This is the first of a small series I'll post along with an interpretation using the Illustration Mode on my A77II. All comments welcome.>=))>

Gorgeous subject nicely captured, Bill. Real eye candy. I prefer the original to the PA. Excellent.

Love the original, Bill - don't honestly feel the flower gains anything from the Photo Art version. The perspective is just right for fading the pads and water into the distance and giving a beautifully graded background.

Excellent Bill!  Great color and an amazing bloom.  I like the amount of room between the bloom and the BG.  I wish for the chance to try shooting these!  I like the photo art version OK - but this first one is awesome!

Really gorgeous Water Lily, Bill. I like you were able to get so much of the WL in focus, yet keep enough distance between the pristine subject and the probably ratty pads. I like the "real" version, hands down!
