Tree Swallow

Just a perched male, but I liked the composition.

7D2, Sigma 150-600 C @ 600 mm, hand held, f/8, 1/1600, iso 1000, manual exposure.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped to a 14.5 MP 4x5 before resizing.  Taken yesterday at 7:43 PM.

I bought a used Dell monitor from Sandy Richards and I'm having a bit of trouble getting the brightness to match my old NEC, so if it looks odd, please let me know.

Comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Nice to see a Tree Swallow actually sitting in a tree for a change! sad
I really dig the downward curve in the branch Dennis, it adds some interest to the comp. My only nit, is I might try bringing up the shadows a bit in the head to make the eye pop a touch more. Still nice work!

Hi Dennis, agree with Kurt that you could open it up overall , but more so in the shadows, however what little noise there might be will be highlighted. Are you enabling 'blown highlights' blinkies on the camera??? Pushing the Exposure to the right is the way to go, more data, better files, less PP, use that Histogram, it's your best friend.

I would forget trying to match as they are two different monitors, just calibrate every month, try and keep the same ambient light in the room, avoid windows and lights on you should be good to go. Providing you have the key points set correctly on your monitor ie White point, Brightness & Gamma you should be fine. Don't forget to check for any Software updates too.

I really like the perch on this Dennis and your composition is perfect. Great pose from the swallow, they don't sit still long. The brightness looks fine to me, maybe a little dark around the eye. Cool shot!

This definitely looks better in the larger image but I do see the concerns about the darkness around the eye.  At least you got the bird to stay still.  I like the composition and the perch.

Love it! Nifty perch and a good shot of this little fast flyer.
