Darlingtonia californica are known as Cobra lilies due to their overall resemblance to a cobra.  They are a type of pitcher plant which live in peaty bogs that are nutrient poor and are exploited by these carnivorous plants. Photo taken in heavy rain at the Darlingtonia State Natural Site in Coastal Oregon. K5 IIs 180 mm f3.5 (1/20 sec. at f3.5, ISO 100). 3 image Pmax stack, levels...........................Jim

Great detail on this unusal flower.  My only suggestion would be for you to consider blurring the background a bit more.

A very interesting looking plant Jim!  I think the BG and surroundings here help with the overall story of the photo.

I've never heard of this plant, but I definitely see the reason for the common name.  I agree with Nathan that the background and surroundings help tell the story of the plant.
