Giant Cactus Blossom

This cactus blossom was huge, just the right height for me, and it had amazing filaments and fingers inside. It amazes me how delicate, intricate and beautiful a cactus flower can be set against the menacing spines all around it. Canon 60D, f22, 1/80 sec, iso 640, 100-400 ISL at 150 mm, Center Weighted Average metering mode, handheld. Thank you for your thoughts and suggestions.

A neighbor had one of these in California, and I just about lived in her yard when it was blooming.
Nice perspective here, fine detail, and lovely colours.
Very fine image!

Hi Ed,

This flower is pretty cool. The colors are subtle and you nailed the whites and yellows with your exposure. Center comp looks good. devil

Great image. Exposure, sharpness, nothing more to say.

I really like your angle of attack on this. Steep, rather than directly overhead, giving an impression of depth. I like the view of the innards this affords. Excellent detail and comp. cool
