We have had another series of huge storms here in Southern Oregon. 3x the usual amount of rain this winter. Poor Jim must think I dragged him here last year under false pretenses! The winters are usually mild, a little rainy, but tolerable. THIS year has been ludicrous.
We have a Coast Guard station here, and it's amazing to watch the guys (and ladies) practice. Today was a sunny break in the storms, but the waves were still huge. I know they love every minute of it.
There are TWO boats here, both the 47-foot MLB's.
(more info on these amazing boats, for those interested: http://www.uscg.mil/datasheet/47mlb.asp  )

Sandy, that's one impressive shot !  Having spent all my life as a sailor and marine designer, I must say this is a testament to both the boats and crew.  Excellent action and prefect timing on your part.

Watch out we'll all be coming for a extended visit.  What a great shot of these powerful waves.  They seem to be tossing those boats around like toys in a bathtub.  Keep 'em coming!

I dunno Sandy.  Might have been fun for them, but for me it would have been close to terrifying.  That is, if I wasn't too sea sick to be scared.  I think I'll stay out here in the waves of grain. enlightened
