Chaffinch
by John Robinson
Chaffinch at poolside. Notice the feet which are showing signs of the disease which has affected these birds.
The old Nikons are,not that good on high ISO so I have to resort to slow shutter speeds and chuck a few.(or a lot) It is possible to get stuff on 80th second - even in mid splash. With camera on full burst that is.
D200
Sigma100-300mm
800 ISO 120th @f9
Curves/Levels.
Paint Shop Pro 7

Thanks for coments on last pic

9 commentsTime to upgrade to a D7200. I liked my D200 a lot, and the D300 even more. The D7200 is definitely better in terms of noise at higher ISO values.
That old equipment still works just fine in the right hands!

I have got the D7100 and to be really honest I think my upgrading days are about over(Its a long story)
I always liked the D200 and I am not too sure why !! It always felt strong and reliable

Thank you. I didn't apply any sharpening other than the basic global after down sizing, I am just wondering if in fact I used the D7100. My PP programme doesn't keep the exif and I get a bit muddled sometimes. The D7100 has no sensor filter and some say it does tend to do as you say with fine detail.(Nuthatches especially.
Thanks for your comments

I,ll see if I can drop the sharpen setting in camera.

Thanks- I don't shoot raw and I se paint Shop pro. Couldn't get on with photoshop.. I always use the same workflow and rarely sharpen these days but used to a few years back.. The only sharpening is when I have reduced the pic down(Bi -linear) for posting on the site, which softens it a bit..Funny how the effect only seems to appear on certain birds !
Thanks for your input.
Cheers
