Just a killer image. Love that tail and the background is sweet. Very well done.

These are really cool looking birds. That tail is really special. The presentation of this image appears very flat. I know the colors of the bird are much more vibrant. I took a look at the histogram for the presented image and see that there is a lot of room on the bright side that is not being used. I did a little work using targeted curves, levels and vibrance. See what you think.

Beautiful image showing the subtle colors on the body well. Good pose and composition.

Chuck, I find it hard as heck to get a good angle with these guys. You really nailed it. Getting the nice profile on the front-facing head while still managing to get some of the blues on the backside of the tail is quite a feat.

Beautiful! sharp unusual bird, perfect BG, nice pose, great colours.
A very tiny nit - the crest has some cyan/blue in it, probably from saturating the turquoise feathers. It probably should be pure white, so reducing the blue channels on the crest only would make this perfect. I like Keith's suggestions too, but his still has that blue cast on th crest.
Exceptional image!

Hi Chuck, long time no speak.
Cool looking subject and I like the pose, but perhaps less of steep shooting angle if possible??? I agree with Keith that it needs some additional work as it does appear a bit dark. Maintaining an ETTR you should get a far better Exposure basis and so any PP would/should be minimal and reduce any 'lifting' of the Shadows & Darks ensuring better IQ too.
Perhaps +1/3 and certainly ISO400 would have been better in terms of the techs IMHO.
Talk soon.

Love the unique bird Charles. The comp and color palette are right on! I also like Keith's version, it adds some punch to the image. Great shot!

Cracking shot Chuck, love the colors, diagonal lines, I agree with Keith that brightening up the mid tones makes sense here.
