Snowy Show Off

Gallery: Man & FaunaPosted April 2, 2017228 views4 comments
I was at the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center in Port Aransas, Texas a few days ago and was trying to track this Snowy Egret when it took off from the water and ended up landing on the rail of the boardwalk with this woman in the background.  I was about to toss the images, when I thought they would fit this gallery.  I'll post two different versions.  While I love the Egret's pose in this one, the way the wing covers the woman's face and the fact that I cut off the top of her hat, bother me a little.

7D2, Sigma 150-600 C @ 600 mm, f/8, 1/2500, iso 800, aperture priority, pattern metering.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped to 14.5 MP before resizing.  Taken at 10:09 AM on March 28th.

Comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Nice pose from the little snowy. The railing alone qualities this for Man and fauna, but if you want to keep the lady, I'd try blurring her a lot more.

Nice shot of the snowy egret Dennis. This really shows how comfortable some of them can get around people. I might also think about blurring the woman out a bit more.

The tameness of the birds at this location can be truly amazing.  I like the story this shot tells.  When I was there years ago a Tri-colored Heron pulled the same trick.  I had a very hard time getting far enough away to get him in focus.
