Flash Snow

An image from early March. We had one of those rare (for around here) overnight snows where everything sticks nicely to the trees producing a winter wonderland in the morning. But it was also mostly sunny and windy, so it was gone in a few hours. I shot this mid-morning. The combination of snow, sun, fast moving clouds, and wind made exposure constantly changing and difficult, and processing a challenge. Mill Creek, Mill Creek MetroParks, Youngstown. D600, 24-70 Nikkor @24, 1/125, f13, iso 400. Suggestions and other comments welcome.

Love those kinds of conditions!  I know not necessarily possible but did you happen to shoot anything from the middle of the river shooting down that cool tunnel of trees??

Nicely shot here.

I like the fresh clean feeling of this image. I like everything about this photo. Not nits at all.

Scott,

What a delightful winter image.  There is a bright, airy look to this, without feeling over-exposed - if that makes any sense.  Love this as presented. No nits or suggestions.

You really nailed the exposure and processing on this, Scott. I like the openness and high key presentation. Works for me.

Love the light, new-snow feel to your image Scott.  The river of course cerainly draws the eye back into the image, enjoying the wonderful dark lines of the trees and the nice reflections.  The touch of blue sky works well too. Outstanding.

Awesome conditions you were able shoot in.  Fleeting, but got out and found a comp before it disappeared.  I like the use of water angling through the image, but showcasing the snow and trees. Beauty!
