Spring has Sprung

I wanted to post this the other day on the Equinox, but missed it.  Happy Spring everyone!

Still working through some images from my visit with Preston a few weeks ago. This was captured the same morning as the couple of rockscapes he posted; but this was a little distance away, but still in the general area.  There was enough spotty cloud cover to create some soft, diffused light.

While contemplating this little scene, I call Preston over and asked him to describe the colors he see's in the scene.  "green, yellow, of course. A little red, cyan...."  Ok, that's what I wanted to hear.  I too could see the cyan in the lichen on top of the rocks. The color was there.  Just a little exercise for me I often do is attempt to really study the colors so that when I get back it helps with making decisions with processing. Even still, I backed off the cyan and enhanced the reddish browns a bit, all trying the keep the green and yellow real.

Would love your thoughts and critiques on this.

Thanks.

Lon

Yep, there's cyan in them thar rocks! enlightened This looks really nice, Lon. I like the distinct lines formed by the swaths of flowers and the rocks. The color looks great, and I like the reds in the moss. You did a fine job on this one.

Very nice field of flowers and rock. It sings springtime. No suggestions here, processing looks good to me.

Lon, this is nature at your feet, wonderfully captured for me. The scattered pattern of the rocks leads me nicely through the composition.

Nice spring meadow scene.  I like how the rocks form a leading line through the photo.  The colors look natural. The focus stacking worked well.

I really like this sort of images. The kind that you would never think of shooting. The sort that seem to be about nothing until you look carefully and let your mind wander. It's simple yet beautiful. Personally I like this more than the grass motif that you sometimes shoot.

Very nice, Lon. Looks like you had an infinite comps to choose from. This wide, vertical comp works well. The spring colors are great. Almost hard on my eyes. We are still dealing with drab, end of winter around here.

What a feel-good image, Lon. This is a beautiful intimate scene that conveys spring renewal. Wonderfully crafted and processing looks excellent. No nits.

I just viewed Preston's version.  I think I prefer your vertical.  I like the leading lines of the goldfields and rocks toward the bg.  I also feel that your reddish-browns are more realistic.

The larger version is a treat. Wonderful yellows and greens Lon; nice job with such small flowers.
