Serene Desert Dawn

A wide open desert scene from the Death Valley area.  It was a very calm, peaceful morning out in the middle of nowhere with just me and the dog. A great morning.

According to unabridged.john-williams.com, the definition of paradise is "out in the middle of nowhere with just me and the dog." ...well done Harley!

Wow, this is austere. It has a simplicity that fits the mood you describe; as much a story as an image.

Looks perfectly peaceful, my friend.  I'm envious of your unrestrained mobility these days.  We will certainly be the beneficiary of these images.  I'm headin' to Escalante for a couple of days.  Dan and Nancy need to get out of the house.

A wonderful take here, Harley. There is so much open space around DVNP that just enchances the experience of the drive leading into the area.
The pano treatment is perfect in all respects......very nicely done as always.

btw: looks like your new camera is being pressed into some fine duty overall.......sad

Sounds like a great time, Harley. This does fit the feelings you mentioned perfectly. I like the pano format here very much.

Wow, that's a lot of Joshua Trees and this helps convey the diversity and size of DV. Very nice pano.

Harley,

A grand landscape and one that holds beautifully for the panoramic - even on this site!  the light streaking across the barren landscape is the main subject for me, but those lengthening clouds really compliment the overall scene.  (I do think you could even shave more empty sky off the top and if that's too narrow a view, crop from the left.)

The only small nit/suggestion would be to back off the blue in the middle and darker shadow areas of the bg mountains. Very minor, but especially the deeper shadows left and right.

Now you didn't specify, so I'll have to assume a single frame and not a pano stitch (which doesn't matter here because the results are fabulous!)

Awesome  "wide open space" landscape.

I would not have expected this view from around Death Valley. The light grazing across the desert and mnt tops is sweet.

A different taken on Death Valley, Harely, and one that nicely conveys the sense of being in the middle of nowhere. I like the contrasting warm/cool colors. I agree with Lon about taking even more off the top empty sky to exaggerate the wide view.

Ahhhh, peace and serenity. Beats the working life. This is a sweet pano and really evokes the 'feel' of the high desert. Agree on cropping a bit off the open sky off the top.

That new camera and lens are doing it right for you. I like the calmness of this, and the pano crop is perfect. I agree with Lon about the blues in the mountains. The warm desert colors.against the sky work very nicely.

Yes, a great look at "the middle of nowhere".  The pano view adds nicely to the sense of great distances.
