Lake Louise, Banff NP
Cropped from a horizontal frame. The blue in the rock face is from being in open shade and reflections off the glaciated lake water. I warmed up the WB a fair amount but did not want to tone down the blues too much. The colors are boosted some but not a lot. All comments welcome. >=))>

The lake surface adds a bit of interest here, Bill.  That crazy turquoise blue just throws your mind into a different place.  I know it's that color cause I've seen it.  I love the hanging trees on the right, which only hint at the massive scale on this place.  Beautiful image.

The large version is especially tactile - the rock face.  The arrangement of the image with the different elements makes it interesting to me.  Lake Louise tends to get the grand image from the same familiar vantage point, so this is a nice change.

Great rock face and lead in by the trees and scree. I find the deep color of the water a bit jolting in the scene, it being so unexpected. I not quite sure about it yet. Still processing it.

It is atypical, but I really like what the deep water color adds to the contrast of the scene. Neat stuff from your trip you've been posting!

Bill, I really like the small strip of water at the base here. It seems to provide a pretty dramatic contrast to the otherwise wildly colorful cliff area......laugh

Bill,

This is an impressive nature scene. I agree with others I think the strip of glacial water is key - interestingly, it provides a sense of scale and context - and the color contrast works beautifully.  I really like the 3 elements of the trees/greenery that really balance this comp out.  The rock wall/face is incredible - and like the rock wall in the Merced Canyon..... I sure wish I could park right next to this beauty! ;-)

The only small nits I have are, it seems a tad crunchy - even at the large size.  And while I know you didn't want to tone down the blue... it's the "purple" (blue component) in the wall that seems a little much.  but then again, I've not stood there and looked at this to have a reference on what is believable or not.  But that's pretty minor actually.  this is a very fine presentation and capture of this geology - in it's place.

Nice isolation abstract. The larger version is excellent. Those trees in the upper right really add scale to the enormity of this rock face.
