Window Dressing

Yikes, I haven't posted in here, well in forever.  Well, after my buddy Preston showed me around his home town of Columbia... I came away with some non nature-landscape type images.  Just gotta share.

This is what I'm assuming is a silk-flower arrangement. It's seen through century-old window glass.  I really liked how this turned out and the semi-abstract nature of the window glass itself.

Posting two versions. The first here is cropped to exclude the wood frame.  I think I like this better, but will include the more full frame version. Although that version is also cropped with some considerable distortion, skewing and warping adjustments.  I couldn't shoot straight on to avoid my own reflection... so some adjustments had to be made to make square as possible.

Your thoughts and comments most appreciated.

Lon

Here's the version that still has the wooden framing on the sides. Not sure I like, but it's more full frame original.

I like this a lot! Looking at both versions, I think I prefer the version with the window frame but cropped the way you cropped it in the original post. An alternative is the framed version cropped but more to square and excluding the reflected sky. I like both, they are just different. In any iteration, excellent stuff.

Do you miss having shift? sad

Lon, I like both and could not decide between the two as each has it's own bit of feel to them. If this is old stuff in Columbia I wonder if some of these panes have lead in them. At least I think that is what causes that heavy wavy look to them on reflective items.
Interesting to see on the second window the upper panes the reflections are off set in the two upper panels. Not knowing exactly what was behind you it's hard to really tell what's going on there, but again the glass being wavy might be that phenomenon taking place.

Anyway, good to see your post here with a bit of walk-around views from Columbia.

Lon, VERY cool!
Love them both, but prefer the cropped version.

This is real nice, Lon. I prefer the cropped version because it puts more emphasis on the warm reflection and the flowers. There is likely not much you could do about it, but some texture in the tan window frame would be nice. I think the paint is too new for that, though. The processing is right on the money. A fine, intimate image!
