This is more of a habitat shot (see the next photo-the tree was filled with 30+ roosting Black-crowned Night Herons).  I liked the pose with the partially open eye and the various curves of the body.  The setting, unfortunately, is a bit busy.

Canon 7d Mark II
150-600 mm at 500 mm
1/1250 at f9.0
ISO 640
processed in LR and PS

Thanks for looking.  Comments and suggestions are appreciated.

This was the tree with all the Night-Herons.  I've never seen more than one at time before.  It was along the Link River in Klamath Falls, OR.  There are a few juveniles, but they blend in too well with the foliage.

I think you did as well as you could with this Allen. Nice look at a sleeping BC Night Heron. Tough surroundings. This is so typical of them. All of them.

Must have pretty cool to see all of these in one tree Allen. With all branches and twigs all over a clean shot would be nearly impossible. But like you stated, it's a habitat shot.

Very cool image, Allen.  I like the partially hidden nature of the image and don't mind a bit of business in the bg.

I think this worked out pretty well. There are some roosting species where this will always be in a bunch of stuff. The fact you got most of the bird ihn the clear satisfies me.
