Leafscape #2

The last of my Yosemite big leaf maple images was made at Fern Spring just after sunrise in deep shade.

My main difficulty with this one was reducing some reflected sky on water on the main leaf using a selection on a curves layer. This is the best I could do without it looking funky.

Nikon D-7100
Nikkor 18-140 @ 105mm
ISO, 100, 6 seconds @ f-16
November 2016.

Please see the large version. Thanks!

Thanks, as always, for your comments on my earlier post, and for your thoughts on this one. cool

I like this far better than the prior one, it is really good. I like the imperfect nature of the leaf and the feel of the changing seasons. Processing looks good to me. Excellent!

I like how you have isolated the one lone large maple leaf in the comp.  I don'the find the reflection to be distracting as you have presented it here.

Excellent.  I think your efforts in post paid off nicely. There is a real sense of seasons changing and the lingering beauty of this one leaf.  There is really a nice story in this little leafscape, Preston.

Preston,

This is fabulous.  I think you did a great job with the processing, I have no nits or suggestions in that regard.  The primary leaf stands out of course as the main subject, but all the supporting elements add to the image perfectly.

Beautifully seen, captured and processed.  If I had one very minor, minor nit/suggeston, would be to desaturate that little green sprig or piece of green grass sitting atop the leaf in the ULC.  Very minor.

Excellent!  You managed some great images from Fern Springs.

All  the overlapping forms, colors and textures really make this a strong image, well seen and crafted.

The big maple leaf is holding together the image by its size, colours and shape. I like the orientation you chose, from lower right to upper left. Such beautiful little scenes are easily overlooked. Maybe needless to say by I use a CPL and/or a little black umbrella to avoid unwanted reflections.
