An excellent capture of this beautifully colored Spoonbill, Matt!  The exposure is excellent and details are great, especially in the large version.  I like that you were able to keep the entire reflection in the image yet still maintain a classic 2/3 composition.  The contrast of the brilliant colors on the bird with the dark waters of the scene really make it pop!  Very nice! devil

Excellent detail and wonderful eye contact, Matt.  I think just a bit more blue under the reflection would be nice.

Matt, Nice portrait of this spoonie. The contrast of the pink against the blue water is sweet. I like reflections - some don't - and this is a good one.
Seems to need a bit of CW rotation. (?)
I'd personally clone out or shorten that reed reflection that intersects the head.
Fine image!

Hey Matt,
Very impressive look at this Spoonbill and I'm lov'n the reflection in the water as well as the water reflections on the subject. The colors and detail in the large version are just wonderful and you nailed the exposure considering the harsh lighting. I agree with Sandy about the reed and would also consider removing the vegetation debris in the water around the subject and reflection to give this image a more pristine appearance.
Well done . . .  devil

Thanks for all of the input everyone. Here is a repost with a little more room at the bottom below the reflection and a bit of rotation to level things out. I prefer to leave the rest of the scene as is with it's original surroundings. I had to add a small sliver of canvas at the bottom to accomplish both the leveling and the additional room.

Matt,
The repost was well worth your efforts and I am amazed at what an improvement the additional room at the bottom and less at the top has made to the overall composition.

Really nice composition here.  You are able to keep everything within the frame including a really superb reflection.  Color reproduction is spot on.   If I were going to make any changes I might clone away the reflection of the read going straight to the top of the head.   The added room in the repost is helpful.

You captured a great scene here Matt. The spoonbill really pops against the darker water. The repost shows much improvement imo. Well done!

A wonderful foraging capture of this beauty and its reflection Matt.

I prefer the re-post also. I think the birds natural environment is a very important part of this image.

Sweet Photo laugh
