High Key Heron

This morning as an exception we had some fresh snow. This begs for high key shots, as I experimented with this heron. While taking the image I overexposed 2 full stops, but in post processing enhanced the effect.

Nikon @ 500mm | 1/1000s | f5 | ISO220 | overexposes 2FS | monopod

Have a nice weekend all crying,

Hans

Hey Hans,
Great scene with all the elements perfectly placed in the frame and as John said, the vegetation really adds balance. I like the high key effect but for my taste, I think you went a bit to far with the Heron and would like to see a more natural look for this Gallery. As is this image would work well in the Photo Art gallery.
I like how you were thinking 'Out of the Box' on this one, well done . . .  laugh

A striking image and presentation. Minimalist in composition. The blades of grass are essential.

The yellows seem a bit too intense on my screen, but overall I like the look here, Hans.  Getting a profile pose helps emphasize the shape and dark tones in the heron, and the bits of grass add a nice texture.

That is really sweet, Hans.  I love the spare composition that the high key presentation produced.  Just the necessary elements for my taste.

Interesting Hans, I like it a lot. I just kind of miss the other foot. Very artistic!

Excellent! I'd personally like to see how a tiny bit more darkening on the palest gray reeds would look.
Wonderful as posted .

Fascinating image Hans, I love the high key processing and the way one foot is pulled up against the chest.

Absolutely love it! I could see it working as a large print on the wall.
