This is another from my Yosemite trip last month. This scene really conveys the feeling of the park my first morning there.

I like the soft mood and the subtle color in the trees. The layers of cloud and the misty background add a since of mystery. The large version is a must-see. Nicely done, sir!

Well that's uplifting sad.  This really does portray the somber mood of winter.  Looks cold and bleak and downright lovely.

Harley, This is really nice and the large version is so enjoyable to view. This comp works great and you really captured some wonderful conditions...at least for my taste because I really enjoy the winter moods and this has plenty of that. The mountain background works perfect for this. Excellent work.

Harley,

I'm having some difficulty in understanding why the bottom of the central tree is so much darker than the upper branches. Is there a mist that's just affecting parts of the tree?

Winter photos like this portray the timeless beauty of the valley.  no roads ...no tourists...no housing...Just rugged snow dusted mtns and the trees.  Well done.

Harley,

This certainly captures the mood of Yosemite in winter - personally, this brings me right there because I've experienced it.  The low mist/fog really makes the image; but you've also composed this nicely - especially with the small pine on the right.

I like this color version, but curious why, or did you convert to b&w, but chose not to use it?  the bg cliffs are monochrome anyway.  Just wonderin'

guess this looked just a tad different the next morning... ;-)

Lon, I actually did try a conversion on this. It was my first thought. But I think the color version has more tonal separation and does a better job of conveying the mood that morning with the contrast of the green pines and the brown leaves and branches on the oaks.

Harley, you have had a whole bunch of exceptional images from that trip, and here's another one. The way you caught and kept the mist is super, super nice.  So much depth in the image.  I like everything about it. devil

Lovely range of tones, Harley, and a very fine composition, with the central tree arching beneath the gap in the rocks above.  The mist is beautifully captured and sets the sombre mood of the image.

This scene is loaded with mood.  To me it conveys stillness, a time to pause and reflect.  I like the telephoto perspective which conveys the scale of the mountains.  The comp is excellent and each element seems perfectly placed in the frame.  The fog, of course, adds to the magic of the moment.

Beautiful, moody capture. Your composition works well - the low hanging mist works great to simplify and provide separation between the trees and the background cliffs. I like the subtle colors but wondering what this would look rendered in B&W.

Absolutely stunning......love this one, Harley. Has a real spooky feel to it. I might be tempted to drop the tiny little bush sticking up in the left FG area. No biggie, just an eye draw for me.......laugh
