WC #771

I had seen and admired a somewhat similar image displayed on one of the photography forums some time ago and I decided that I wanted to try and create my own interpretation of that image whenever I got the chance.  This photo of Sandhill Cranes foraging for food in front of sprawling trees was taken last December at Bernardo Wildlife Area, Bernardo, New Mexico.

Looks like infrared effect.  Really cool result.

It does look like an infrared shot, Paula.  The shapes of the trees are very interesting and the cranes in front add a fine detail.  I think processing for some more contrast in the mass of trees would add some pop and help the cranes stand out a bit more.  I'm not a user of Silver efex, but in Lightroom, I'd play with the various color sliders in the b&w transition, then I'd look at doing some tonally specific dodging/burning.
