Bald Eagle Fishing

This Eagle had just snatched a fish from the Mississippi river and headed for a tree to enjoy it's meal. Shot in manual mode using the technique Dennis Plank told me about for Eagles. Getting the exposure reading from something white nearby in the same light and using that reading. It takes some practice but generally I got some decent results.

PS: I just noticed this is my 100th post, thanks for all the comments and help since I've been around. It's been a great experience and I've learned a lot so far.

Good action shot. I would ideally like to have seen more of the fish, but from your vantage you would have seen less of the splash. A good compromise I think.

I'm glad the technique worked for you, Steve.  Your timing on this one is awesome and the high shutter speed really stopped the action.  Excellent action shot.

Perfect exposure, perfect sharpness.  I really like the diagonal position of the bird and all the water splashing.
