Red-Winged Blackbird

I was looking through some old files and found a Ridgefield trip from 2014 from which I'd only processed a couple of images, so I spent some time yesterday working a few more (nice rainy day therapy).

1Div, 500mm f/4L + 1.4 TC, probably supported on a bean bag, f/5.6, 1/100, iso 1600, aperture priority, pattern metering, +2/3 EV. Processed in LR5 & CS6. Cropped a touch on the top and more on the left to a 10.8 MP 4x5. Taken at 6:38 AM on April 2, 2014.

Please view large, if possible.

Comments and criticisms are welcomed.

Thanks,

Nice capture here Dennis. I find these guys hard to expose properly. The blacks look really good here, especially evident in the larger version. The creamy background really makes him stand out. Also like the fanned tail. Well done.

I can hear his call just watching this shot. Nice displaying red wing.

Much better detail in the larger image. Very nice exposure on the blacks and a wonderful creamy background.

The soft lights works very nicely for this expressive portrait.

Excellent details you captured of this handsome fellow singing Dennis.
