Grey Rock

I liked the variety of tones and the curving lines seen in this rock formation. Olympus E-M1, 60 mm lens at 1/80 f/5.6 and ISO 800. Richard

Richard,

This is a mind bender for me! Especially the smaller view.  The large view is of course a must see, but it's easier to figure out what's going on.  I want to say that this has a vague resemblance to the images we see of the "Subway" in Zions (of course minus the color,) but this has a tube kind of look to it.  Which draws the eye in, which always makes for great imagery.

The top of the small version is a bit dark, but that goes away when opening the large view where more detail is revealed.  And really, the only thing that gives this a sense of orientation and context are the bits of vegetation growing in the diagonal crack.

This sure looks like a fascinating place where one could spend quite a while and create lots of different abstracts.

I like this a lot!  Very different.

Interesting rock indeed. My first is that the top portion looks a bit dark- feels a little out of balance. Some cropping or dodging might help if you're so inclined.

There are a lot of interesting lines and textures that make for a nice abstract.

This an interesting image, Richard.  Knowing it's obviously small detail, the odd thing to me is in can be interpreted as a large landscape, which makes me think of what might be seen in a fantasy sci-fi film.  The texture and light at the bottom half is compelling, also very curious.  Would love to see other images in this location.

This is top shelf!  Print it large.  It is a joy to examine.

I love these sort of images. They are abundant in parts of baja and I'm always trying to put a frame around them. Some of it is due to their graphic quality. I suspect that a lighter top area would improve this a bit but I like it as is in the large version. Reminds me a bit of the work Weston did at Pt Lobos, It feels like there is a left side and a right side, but the repeating curves hold it all together. Greatjob.

This is super neat!
It's like a Salvador Dali-esque photo, like it is dripping and running across the image.  I think the comp is fantastic.
Awesome!!   devil

This is awesome...but, I think I'd crop or clone out the large, dirty looking vug on the top right side.  I think it draws your eye to the right --  too fast.  And, this is , definitely, a folded rock that needs to be "explored".devil and savored.  A compliment from a real geologist...me.

Beautiful rock abstract, Richard. Both fascinating and artistic. Really have no idea about the scale, which is fine. devil

But very interesting Grey (sic) Rock.  Fascinating, actually.  Neat what Nature has done here.
