Iceberg Field

On a trip to Alaska, our boat navigated through a field of grounded icebergs. It was snowing that day which provided some additional definition to the faces of the icebergs. Even on a cloudy day, the icebergs were distinctly blue. Nikon D750, 24-120 lens at f/6.3, 1/320 and Auto ISO at 1400. Richard

I am salivating at the translucent blues and greens of these floaters.   It reminds me of walking along a hidden beach and finding these untouched clear agates glistening in the water and sunshine.    ...  addictive...I just want to see more.   Nicely done!

Great subject with that snow definition on the ice. I could see a slight contrast boost but the color is fantastic as presented. The larger version has a lot more impact.

Richard,

Sounds and looks like pretty nasty conditions, but I think the addition of the snow really has added a great element and interest to the scene.  The drab light is tough, but as Ken mentions the colors and translucence of the 'bergs really make up for it.  I also really like the arrangement of everything.  There's not a crop or suggestion I can think of.

Very good capture of the sea of icebergs, Richard. The centered iceberg has nice form and beautiful color, and I like the way you framed it. The sky is drab, but that is nicely minimized in the comp, and it allows the main iceberg to stand out from the gray bg.

Love those aquamarine blues in the ice and how the snow has enhanced the texture of the icebergs.  Really like your centered composition as well, as the placement of the other icebergs nicely balances your composition.  Tough conditions to photograph these natural scuptures but your results were very much worth it.

This is nice; I like the little snow pockets on there.  Excellent job on the exposure and bringing out those blues.  Kind of mysterious looking.  Nicely done.
