Spirit Bear

This past September I had the privilege of participating in one of Brad Hill's "Into the Great Bear Rainforest" photo tours. This is an image from that trip. I lack both the skill of capturing and processing images that Brad possesses but I'm still pretty happy with this. It was definitely an experience of a lifetime.

Really nice capture of this beautiful bear. That fish is enormous. It's hard to judge the techs with juch small image. You can post a larger image in a comment and it will enlarge when you click on it. Might give it a try. I'm sure lots of us would like to see a larger image.

OK, here is a larger file. What's most disappointing about this image is I believe there is a small area along the bear's right side where the highlights are blown and there's some loss of detail. I have other shots of this bear with perfect exposure but they aren't as interesting as this. So hard to get it perfect.

Great capture, Sharon!  Even if a small portion of the highlights are blown that doesn't bother me.  What I notice most about this image is that it's a great action shot, the fish in his mouth, and the excellent sharpness and detail in the bear's face.  I also like that it's a very cool looking white bear.

Hi Sharron,

Nice to see you posting shots from the trip! I like this one very much and don't think the "blown" highlights you are talking about are an issue at all and the combination of the presence of the fish and and the great look on the bear's face really makes this one an excellent shot! Nicely done...

Cheers...
