Puttin' on the Ritz

Somehow this strutting pose made me think of the old Fred Astaire scene, though when I looked at it again, it didn't seem quite so appropriate.  However, no one could strut quite like he could when he wanted to.

Great Egret photographed at Ridgefield NWR.

7DII, Sigma 150-600 C @ 180 mm, beanbag on car window, f/9, 1/250, iso 800, aperture priority, pattern metering.  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  Cropped to an 11.4 MP 6x7 vertical before resizing.  Blurred the upper part of the bg a bit, sharpened the bird and tweaked the brightness and tonality here and there.  Taken at 9:22 AM on December 21st.

Comments and criticisms are most appreciated.

Thanks,

Definitely strutting! I miss Ridgefield..
Fine detail, good control of the whites, and great bird.
Very well-done!

The Egret stands out nicely against the other colors in the foreground and background.  Nicely composed.  Good choice to blur the upper part of the image.
