Here is another image from Sparks lake.  This one shows Broken Top and a couple relaxing on a stand-up paddle board taking in the view.

I think this is the last of my mid-day Sparks Lakes shots.  I feel like I'm making lemonade instead of getting out there and picking some new lemons.

As usual, your feedback and suggestions are always appreciated.

Marylynne, I enjoyed reading your own thoughts on this. Yes, it looks mid-day but also very inviting because this is so often what we see. It is still a beautiful place and one can also see full of enjoyment. Now I think I'll go pick some lemons too...cool Nick

This is a very pleasant view and a lovely composition.  I think a few tweaks in PS might help reduce the mid-day effect, such as increasing the contrast.  In light room you could try the de-haze slider.

It is a pleasant composition, although I would move the coastline a bit up or down. The mid-day light is a problem, and I am not sure that it is fixable to any satisfactory extent in post processing. I have become so frustrated by this sort of problem, and wasted so much time trying to fix the unfixable, that most of the time I simply leave the camera in the car, or at home, fom early morning until mid afternoon. Exceptions: if it is cloudy (misty or rainy are even better) or during winter at high latitudes.

Nice comp but mid day light needs more depth.  Haze slider ,contrast, luminosity masks can all help.  But it is really difficult to shoot at this time of day.  A panoramic crop could also add some energy to the image.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.  My apologies for not getting back to it more quickly.  The New Year and a new head cold conspired against me.

Here is a redo.  I think it is much better, but of course, the very subject and time of day limit the potential.  I decided to go pano (thanks!) and get rid of the reflection of the mountain entirely.  It wasn't clear enough to add to the comp, and I like the effect of the reflected trees and the the paddleboard couple.

I also boosted the dehaze sliders.  I tend to go pretty conservatively on that because, like clarity, the effect doesn't always hold up in a print.  Of course, this one is more likely to be a breezy online image anyway, so it works here.

Thanks for the nudges,
ML
