Vietnam Memorial

Heading into Downtown DC this early morning to catch the day break, sunrise and to work on my "light painting" basically adding touches of light, trying to experiment on the effects

I use a Pentax K3ii it does NOT have a built in flash, so its either an external one mounted on top or other off camera light sources. For this shot I am using a couple of simple LED flashlights, My goal is to learn more about how light effects the scene, and to watch the manual metering, color balance and try to see how things turn out.

So today I was at the Vietnam Memorial in Washington DC, yes it was COLD, but I wanted to catch the daybreak and knew they had placed wreaths along the memorial.

In this picture, I held the LED Flashlight up high behind the camera, to my (camera) right with emphasis on the first wreath, and with the timer set to 12 seconds I backed away to reduce the amount of light. I was noticing that it was blowing out the highlights if too strong. I have many others of the same scene, with different positions, even have a nice one with the flashlights pointing up into the wreaths

As always any advise, tips, suggestions are always welcome, or advise on light painting, using different light sources and different effects.

Two things make this image special for me-the reflected image of trees superimposed oven the names of the fallen and the Christmas wreath displayed with a small American flag between which a walkway lead the viewer's eye toward the Washington Monument in the distance.  Beautifully composed!

Thanks, I after looking at it for a while, if I had lit more of the wreaths going up the path, it might have been better, I did not want it to have an overly amount of light. The reflections are natural and the reflectiveness of the wall is part of its charm.
