Wood Frog Courtship

Here's a look at a male wood frog (Rana sylvatica) in courtship mode floating in the runoff control pond next door in early spring.  In addition to the wild courting antics, the fine reflections of the early spring colors make this few days in early spring a fun time.  (7D2, 180mm macro L, 1/320s, f/8, iso 400, tripod)

Mark, a neat fun shot of this frog doing the breast stroke, or "Frog Kick" maybe.....sad
I do like how you multi purposed the 180mm Macro lens into usage here also.
I too find I have 3 crossover lenses including a 140mm Macro. I use a 37mm Fisheye, 140mm Macro, & 150mm Soft Focus under a variety of conditions.

Not sure if a polarizer would have aided this shot, but probably little chance to engage that with the quick action taking place.

Our "Best of 2016" can entail some interesting stories along with some excellent images too. For you I would think you enjoy a collection of scenes from both your East coast and Montana homes during this last year.

I like this one, Mark.  For some reason, the water and reflections ended up with a very impressionistic look.   Excellent placement of the frog.

Very neat contrast here between the precise form of the frog and the impressionistic feel of the wispy waters, Mark.  The composition and sizing of the image are perfect.
