A Pallid Bat drops in for a drink on the wing. An infrared camera trigger and high-speed flash was used in the creation of this image.

Steve, a head-on action shot like this is always nice, but I think the water droplets really send the image to the next level.  They add a nice bit of texture and help tell the story.

Hi Steve,

The image looks pretty good with subject and water droplets fairly sharp. The head is slightly softer than the leading edge of the wing, but not a deal breaker..  20 second exposure, perhaps with a single short burst of flashes?   Please explain, I am intrigued.  A very interesting technique which resulted in a wonderful image................................Jim

Nice image Steve. Been to Bill's place a few times and it's a ton of fun! Nice to see you managed a Pallid, those are not as frequent to the watering hole. The water droplets are nice!
