How did you get this mosquito to hold still while you generated your stack?  The dof is great and the details are awesome, especially that antenna.  Are the fresh legs really that blue?  Well done, Steve.  Welcome to the Macro/CU gallery.

Gotta say, Steve, that this is really impressive. The magnification and detail, even the detail in the reflection, is amazing. Ligthing is very good. As I say, most impressive macro. devil

Question: where exactly was this taken, and under what conditions (e.g., Is this a studio shot)?

Thanks Mark. This was done in my house so no wind to blow him around. I was actually amazed I was able to get a stack off. Yes the leg color is accurate, I was surprised by that as well I can only assume it fades after a while.

Hi Scott,
I appreciate your kind words. Yes this image was done in my home.
Not sure if a link will work here (you may have to copy and paste it) to a behind the scenes article I did about this shoot.

Another nice one Steve. Several species of mosquitoes are adorned with metallic colored scales so I'm not surprised that you were able to catch some colors on this freshly emerged adult. .....................Jim.
