Welcome! This is a nice first post. Grebes provide great opportunities. Your colours are lovely,  and you got great action.
The large image is pretty soft, and your ISO of 200 won't capture fast movement well. For flying birds and any action, I usually set at least 1200-1500 ISO. You had  good light, so could have handled that.
Nice placement in the frame.
Looking forward to more of your work, and your comments and thoughts on others' work too.

It's very cool to see this moment, and I like that you went low and had some nice colors to work with in the environment.

Sandy touched on the ISO in relation to the softness.  I'm not necessarily opposed to low ISOs for action, but in this case I think increasing the ISO would have enabled you to stop down while maintaining your fast shutter speed.  A narrower aperture would have increased the depth of field, which can help boost your chances of getting multiple subjects sharp in the frame.  That may have been the bigger culprit here, because I suspect 1/1250th would be sharp enough to capture this sharply in the right circumstances otherwise.

Wonderful action and a classic display that I  would love to photograph one  of these days.  I like the low angle that your floating blind provided and the dof is excellent.  A couple of spots on the necks look a bit hot and the bright halo above the birds necks looks like it might arise from oversharpening or a major crop.  I love the bg and your framing.

I don't believe I've seen you post in the Avian gallery before, so welcome aboard.  This is a wonderful place to learn and exchange techniques and ideas.

Welcome to NPN Steve!

Awesome behavior action of this pair you captured. Perfect timing! Love the flying water drops and the dual toned background. I'm with Sandy and Max, I think you could have increased the ISO and f-stop to give you a bit more detail in both grebes and still end up with a quality image.

Excellent Work!
