High Key Osprey

Another from Florida in March.  This is as much about the perch as it is the Osprey, I think.  They seemed to fit very well when the Osprey assumed this pose.  Bright overcast in the bg created the white sky.

7DII, Sigma 150-600 C @ 451 mm, hand held from boat, f/9, 1/1600, iso 500, manual exposure (I still had to bring it up a fair amount).  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  This was cropped to 16.4 MP before resizing.  I had to burn in the top of the head a bit to make it stand out from the white sky and dodge the wings to bring out a bit more detail.  Taken at 1:10 PM on March 27th on the St. Johns river in Florida.

Comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Dennis,

the high key works for me, as it is also the perch and the overall composition of the image.

Anyhow, even knowing that it is nature subjects that we photograph, I would have liked a better eye contact to the bird.
